Getting involved

Choosing a club > Getting involved

Having trouble finding the after school care you're looking for? Would you like to know more about how you can help an existing club? There are many ways to get involved in out of school care.

Touching toesIf you are interested in the business planning and management of the club, consider becoming a management committee member. This is a voluntary role and involves attending board meetings on a regular (monthly or quarterly) basis. There will be work to do between meetings such as accounting, planning or funding applications. You could approach your club co-ordinator directly to find out who to contact or call OSN on 0114 249 4941 for details of clubs in your area. Further information on the roles of management committee members is available on this website - click here for details.

Interested in working directly with children? Club co-ordinator is a paid role which involves liaising with the management committee, overseeing the day to day running of the club and planning and delivering activities for the children. You may also be interested in working as a deputy co-ordinator or playworker - these roles are all paid and generally require some level of qualification in playwork, often to NVQ Level 3 for co-ordinators. You may be interested in working at your club as a volunteer. An enthusiasm for working with children is the usual pre-requesite for this role - contact your club for details. All people working with children are required to undergo a Criminal Records Bureau check.

Browse the "Running a club" section of our web site for more information on setting up and running your own club, or contact us directly for further details - telephone the Business Development Team on 0114 249 4941 or e-mail info@osn.org.uk.
