Who works at Sheffield OSN?

Sheffield Out of School Network (OSN) is a charity managed by a voluntary management committee which includes people who are currently working in the playcare sector, or who have particular expertise. Day to day management is led by a small management team, and the work of the organisation is split into three teams - development, training and support.

The organisation has grown rapidly over recent years, thanks to the growth in demand for out of school care, and to the National Childcare Strategy, which has increased the amount of money available to support this type of work. Our team now includes a range of specialists, with broad experience of planning and delivering high quality, affordable and accessible out of school playcare.

Who do we work with?

Sheffield OSN is an active member of Sheffield 0 to 19 Partnership and works closely with the Early Years Education and Childcare Service located in the Children's and Young Peoples Directorate of Sheffield City Council. That means we're involved in planning all
aspects of early years services in the city - and that we work together to identify gaps and prioritise areas where the need for out of school care is greatest.

We also work closely with major initiatives, such as Objective One - a major European funding programme, which is bringing millions to South Yorkshire. The Out of School Network Manager is on the 0 to 19 Partnership to represent the interests of the voluntary sector, and is working to ensure that childcare needs are central to plans for employment and economic regeneration.
