Entry Level courses

 

Basic introduction to safeguarding for playworkers

The sector now has access to the FREE training the Safeguarding Children's Service are delivering. The programe begins in September 2008 and many sessions are happening at OSN.

Introduction to Playwork

With Paula Bridge,

This is a introductionary training course designed for people working with children aged 4-16 years old

This course consists of 3 x 4.5 hour long taught sessions and 10 hours practical work in a play setting the dates are:

Course 1: Wednesdays 25th November & 2nd & 9th December 2009

Takes place at Highfield Adventure Playground
Mountpleasant Rd, Sheffield, South Yorkshire S7 1DB


Course 2: Saturdays 27th February & 6th & 13th March 10

Take place at Sheffield Out of School Network
6-8 Meetinghouse Lane, Sheffield, S1 2DP

Prices £5 per person if you are in reciept of benefits & £20 per person for everyone else

All course times are 10.00-2.30

 

Everyone Can Play
with Mal Hillier, 5 sessions, 10.00 to 12.30

This course is suitable for any playworkers with an understanding of play, who are interested in exploring issues of disability discrimination and developing an inclusive play setting
The course consists of 5 x 2.5 Hour long sessions

(12.5 hours in total)

Elemental Play

Come and explore the natural elements of earth, wind, water and fire play as we investigate how to make the most of your inside and outside play spaces.

NVQ Level 2 & 3

National Vocational Qualifications for Playworkers - the course is an 18 week taught course, starting in September and February each year.

Transition Award - this is a brand new course which gives currently qualified Level 3 Childcare workers the opportunity to achieve a Level 3 Playwork qualification. This course takes a year compared to the expected 18 months to 2 years for a full NVQ 3 qualification.

Interviews are required, please call OSN to book a time slot.

Playwork and the EYFS - From September 2008 all out of school providers who work with children up to the age of 6 will be required to use the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework.
